CEO Transition Announced
Katie Terino and Member Danny celebrate the Yawkey Campus groundbreaking
July 14, 2026 - Effective September 1, our President & CEO, Katie Terino, will be stepping back from her current role to focus on family and personal projects. As she embarks on this new chapter, we are excited to announce that Kevin Salera will join HOPe as our next Chief Executive Officer, also effective September 1. He brings more than 25 years of leadership in disability and human services across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Katie, who first joined HOPe as a Board Member in 2016, remains committed to our mission. She will stay on the Board in an Ex Officio role, where her experience and institutional knowledge will continue to benefit our community for years to come.
As Board Member, Executive Director beginning in 2019, and as President & CEO since 2022, Katie has guided our organization through a period of historic transformation. Under her visionary leadership, HOPe has achieved extraordinary milestones, including:
Historic Expansion: Growing our footprint to four new sites and expanding our dedicated staff to over 80 team members.
Financial Stewardship: Increasing our organizational budget from $1.6 million to $8.5 million and more than doubling operational fundraising to over $1 million annually.
Campus Transformation: Developing a master plan to triple the facilities at our Easton headquarters and successfully raising nearly $10 million in our recent capital campaign.
Innovative Programming: Forging a groundbreaking partnership with JVS Boston, the state’s largest workforce developer, to create pathways to employment that have shattered workforce participation outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
Resilient Leadership: Pioneering virtual services and driving a comprehensive COVID-19 response plan that allowed us to return to pre-pandemic capacity rapidly, earning HOPe recognition as a leader among Massachusetts disability service providers.
These are exciting times for HOPe as we settle into a new site in Brockton and prepare to open our expanded campus in Easton. To guarantee the greatest level of continuity and success, Katie will remain in her current role for a period of time during Kevin’s onboarding.
We look forward to welcoming Kevin. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Charles River Center in Needham, previously holding COO roles at The Arc of North Central Massachusetts and The Arc of Bristol County. He also served as Director of Vocational Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and spent 13 years leading employment and transportation services at HMEA, Inc. Kevin holds a Master of Public Administration from Clark University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Stonehill College. His deep operational expertise, his proven record of growing programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and his genuine passion for this work make him an exceptional fit for HOPe’s mission and the ambitious chapter ahead.
