Overnight Respite

Overnight Respite (ONR) is a huge success for families! Due to the demand during the summer months, we have few slots available.

Please know that we will do our best to meet the needs of our special families, but plan ahead if you know you have a wedding, bah mitzvah, etc.

What Others are Saying about HOPe

"I would like to thank the House of Possibilities"

"...for taking in our son Timothy for an overnight respite.  It gave our family an opportunity to go to an 80th birthday party for my father without having to worry about our autistic son.  It allowed us to focus on the party and really enjoy ourselves. As parents of autistic children we cannot always fully enjoy, relax, or engage in conversation when we constantly have our child and their behaviors in the back of our minds. It also allowed our other two children to fully enjoy their papa's party without having to keep and eye on their brother.

Not only was it healthy for us but also Timothy had an awesome time at HOPE! The staff was so friendly and made us comfortable right away. It was so great to see Tim playing and interacting with the other children. It was a leap of faith to bring our non-verbal child who was having explosive tantrums to a new place and leave him. We realized after picking him up that we had given him, in a small way, the ability to spread his wings.

It's ok to be apart sometimes, we need to give him some freedom and the rest of the family needs it too! He didn't have any problems at the house, he had a great time and we got to stay up late AND sleep in!  Sometimes it’s hard to trust strangers but sometimes it’s exactly what parents need to do to get a well-deserved rest!

We highly recommend HOPE, our kids are in very good hands there."

"I had to email to tell you something wonderful..."

"A parishioner came up to my husband, and asked him if he was familiar with the House of Possibilities. Jim explained briefly how we were involved a little through fundraising efforts. She then went on to say what a beautiful place it was and that she was so happy to find out about it from a friend. This mother has a teenage daughter who comes to your Saturday Live night and just has such a wonderful time. This mother said she had checked out other places, but there were no comparisons. HOPe is truly blessing the lives of many!!

I had to share this with you ~ My best to you and your family."

"I would recommend this program to all special needs parents"

"My daughter Leah who is 17 years old with Down Syndrome has been going to the Hope House since opening day!  She enjoys Saturday respite during the day and especially enjoys overnight respite.  The staff are great with the kids and do all kinds of activities with them.

What I like about the program is that Leah is diabetic and she needs her blood sugar checked and is on insulin.  Mary who is on staff is very good with given Leah her insulin as well as her other medications that she is on.  I feel very comfortable leaving her overnight because I know she's safe and having fun with her peers that are special just like her. The overnight program is from Saturday afternoon until Sunday at noon.  It gives parents something fun to do like going to the movies, dinner or just relaxing at home.

I would recommend this program to all special needs parents that may need a break from their normal routine."

"I just wanted to thank you all again for the wonderful night"

"...of overnight respite care we experienced at HOPe for the first time w/ Eliza, on Sat. June 18.

Mary, you and Shelia were absolutely wonderful and made me feel so good about it all from the moment we stepped inside the door (to the beautiful home I might add!). What makes the place just exude warmth and love is the people that run it all and I can't even imagine, all the blood, sweat and prayers behind the history of this place and keeping it going with ONR and what looks like so many wonderful programs there!

It was worth every mile driven from Natick :) I can tell Eliza thoroughly enjoyed herself. It was such a delight to meet some of the other kids too. I'm so struck over and over the rich blessings I receive by getting to meet and see God's heart in these special kids.

Many many thanks again. This is so great for our marriage and family too, to start finding and trying more respite care. babysitting help is one thing but it's at the home and i can see for Eliza and us how respite care offsite is so important too. She's in school fulltime during the week, but to have some time like this during some of her off time is so invaluable. i'm glad to be taking a few steps in this direction, as it's hard too and there aren't that many places available or w/ consistency I find.

Enjoy this beautiful weather (and hope you and Shelia are catching up on sleep Mary!!)"

"We have had an amazing experience at HOPe"

"I would only add that we have had an amazing experience at HOPe.  It had gone far beyond any other agency or organization that we have ever dealt with.  We feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of HOPe and the services that the wonderful folks there provide for our son."
