From Where I Sit
From where I sit, I see whoever walks through the pillars and front doors of HOPe. They are parents and children and visitors and delivery men; they are staff and volunteers and students and donors. They are all welcome and each one has an open heart and a gentle soul. This makes the House of Possibilities a joyful and wondrous place all year round.
From where I sit, tiny miracles happen every day. I see shy young adults find their voice and join a group. I see the so-called “handicapped” not only discover their gifts, but learn how to share them. I see the work of our precious children in every corner of the house—their coloring, their crafts, their books, their doodlings—all over the house.
From where I sit, there is work to be done. I write thank-you notes to generous donors and greet angels at the door. But I am happy for the most mundane of office tasks because I know I’m contributing to the mission. I thought I was bringing skills and passion to the house, but I am the one who was given the gift.
This all happens from where I sit.
